Since 1978 Mission Asram has been nurturing comprehensively the education, training, rehabilitation, eye-health care setting up Residential School for the Blind (HS), Vocational Training Centre & Eye Hospital, & Training Centre for the Teachers of the Visually Impaired delivering the holistic services for making the Visually Impaired person, a useful citizen of the country. It is one of the best Institutions in the country for execution of the Persons with Disability Rights & full participation of the disabled.
Diploma course in Special Education (Visual Impairment) D.Ed Special Education (V.I.), (Primary Level). Recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi (Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India) & Mass Education Extension Department, Govornment of West Bengal.
Started in July, 2000 The Training Centre for the Primary School Teachers of The Visually Handicapped is one of the twenty-two Institutions of the Mission Asram.

Objectives:
i) To promote education for the Visually Handicapped through out the State as well as the Country through integrated as well as Special School set up.
ii) To undertake an assessment of the aptitude and abilities of the trainees.
iii) To make more people aware of the different types of educational pattern for the Visually Impaired.
iv) To prepare teachers to be committed to their performance for the all round development of the Visually Impaired Student.

Educational Tours to visit some pioneering organisations working in the field of education & rehabilitation for the handicapped. Training & rehabilitation for the handicapped for around 3/4 days are arranged every year. Expenses will be collected by the Trainees.
Over and above the syllabus, all the Trainees shall have to attend Music, Physical Education, Art & Craft & Indian Culture classes seperately arranged by the Institution.
Trainees have to bring out one wall Magazine (Sonar Tori) during the course in each year.
Training Centre/College has a Well-equipped Library with books and Journals pertaining to education of the Visually Impaired, some other disabilities and general D.Ed Course.
Every trainee is expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the centre/college as remain in force from time to time so that a high & healthy standard of discipline may be maintained. Steps are taken particularly in regard to damage to property, irregularity in attendance, failure to return to the institute on the expiry of leave, leaving the premises without permission etc. for any break or indiscipline or orders. The trainees are liable to removal or dismissal or such other measures as the concerned authority may decide or deem fit.
Attendance is compulsory for all in the daily Prayer Assembly of the Training Centre/College & presence in the Prayer services at the Muktidham is must, particularly for the hostellers.
The candidates once admitted to the course will have to deposit the course fee and the caution deposit as per Institute's norms. 70% of Caution Deposit is refundable at the end of the course. If any candidate withdraws the course before completion due to any reason, the total fees and deposits paid by the candidate will stand forfeited. Such Trainee should withdraw the Caution Deposit (70%) within the three consecutive years after the end of the course otherwise it will be forfeited. All are expected to equip themselves with the Missionary tradition, ideals & culture and lead a regulated & disciplined life.
A healthy competition and co-operation is expected from everyone. Any sort of untoward exposure and indirectly honkering after internal marks are treated as disqualification. All are to reveal their latent qualities to become a good teacher.
