A tour to India is incomplete without a sojourn in the Karnataka which is famous for its better spices, fascinating forts, white sandy beaches decorated with coconut trees; massive fishing nets spotted along the beach at dusk and obviously the backwaters enchanting scenery of channels and streams fed by the mountain ranges. To complete your journey, travel to Karnataka Richness in Culture and Traditional Grandeur. The name of the land Karnataka has come from 'Kari-nadu' meaning the land of black soil, & some others hold that 'Karunadu' also means beautiful country; either way the land is celebrated as beautiful throughout its ancient literature.
BEAUTY OF MYSORE, COORG, AND OOTY
Mysore is the Karnataka's second biggest city, situated in Southern India. It was the erstwhile capital of the Wodeyar dynasty and is considered the cultural capital of the state. Mysore is the second cleanest city in India and one of the well-planned ones. The people of Mysore are famous for their peaceful attitude and helpful nature. Ooty, short for Ootacamund (an anglicized name for Udhagamandalam), is a popular hill resort in the state of Tamil Nadu in Southern India. The name Udhagamandalam is derived from the TODA word "othakal-mund" which means "house in mountains". Ooty stands at 7,347 feet above sea level in the Nilgiri mountain range.. Located in the mountainous range called the Nilgiris ("Blue Mountains"), it draws swarms of tourists every year. The weather is quite pleasant at a mean of 15-20°C around the year, dropping to lows of 0°C during winter. Ooty is not the destination in itself, as much as it is the focal point of attraction.
